Details

There is only one more vote of the Sejm deputies to adopt the relevant amendments to the law.

According to the draft law, catering service providers will be prohibited from giving out disposable plastic products with food or drinks to consumers for free. They will have to be replaced with tableware or reusable packaging, the price of which should not exceed the cost of disposable tableware.

This procedure will not apply to packages in which food or beverages have already been packaged by the manufacturer.

According to the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, for violation of the new procedure, traders are proposed to be fined 30-60 euros, and business executives - in the amount of 100 to 200 euros.

Addendum

On Saturday, after a discussion, 88 members of the Lithuanian Seimas voted in favor of the relevant amendments to the law, with two abstentions. If the new version of the law is adopted, it will still need to be harmonized with EU legislation.

Recall

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets said that limiting the use of single-use plastic in Ukraine is an important step towards the EU and further implementation of waste management reform .
