In Ukraine, criminals have started sending emails allegedly on behalf of branches of the Kyiv City State Tax Inspectorate. The scammers urge to open a file infected with malware attached to the email, UNN reports with reference to the Cyberpolice.
Law enforcers note that malware files are used to gain hidden access to the victim's computer and transfer money from the company's accounts to controlled ones.
To verify the information in case of receiving such letters, Ukrainians are advised to contact the hotline of the State Tax Service of Ukraine at 0-800-501-007.

In addition, law enforcement officers reminded basic strategies for protecting against computer viruses:
Refrain from downloading files from unreliable sources and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
Use and regularly update antivirus software.
Update your operating system and software to the latest versions. Do not use programs that are of Russian origin.
"If you have become a victim of a cybercrime, submit an electronic appeal to the cyber police," law enforcement summarized.
