Foreign ministers of the European Union member states strongly support the allocation of proceeds from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell told reporters on Monday after a meeting with ministers in Brussels, UNN reports.

Among the opponents of this idea is Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. He proposed to spend the frozen Russian assets on preventing the consequences of Russian aggression and protecting Ukraine, rather than on its reconstruction, as the aggressor must pay for its actions.

Earlier, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin explained the importance of using frozen Russian assets to pay compensation to Ukrainians who suffered from Russian aggression, as Russia must pay reparations for the damage caused by its war crimes.
