Electricity consumption in Ukraine is growing due to the heat wave. There are imports from 5 neighboring countries. 550 settlements are without electricity. From 16:00 to 24:00, blackout schedules will be in effect in all regions, Ukrenergo reported on Tuesday, UNN writes.
Consumption
"Electricity consumption continues to grow. On Tuesday, August 20, as of 9:30 a.m., the level of consumption is 2.1% higher than the previous day. This is due to the hot weather in most regions of Ukraine," the statement said.
The day before, the company said, there was also a "significant increase" in consumption compared to Friday.
Ukrainians were urged to conserve electricity throughout the day, and especially during the hours of maximum consumption in the morning and evening. And not to turn on several powerful appliances at the same time during this period.
Due to the growing capacity deficit in the power grid, today from 16:00 to 24:00, consumption restrictions will be applied to all categories of consumers, except for critical infrastructure and enterprises that pay for more than 80% of electricity imports for their own needs
Import and export
Imports - throughout the day from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova. The total volume is 19,558 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,235 MW in some hours. Exports are not carried out and are not planned.
De-energization
Due to the hostilities and other reasons, 550 settlements are completely or partially without electricity. Due to hostilities: there are power outages in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovs'k, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv regions. For technical reasons, consumers in Kyiv region were cut off from electricity supply.
