The United States imposed sanctions on companies from the UAE and Liberia for transporting Russian oil at a price higher than the upper limit.

The United States has imposed sanctions on three organizations from the UAE and Liberia whose ships were transporting Russian oil at a price that exceeds the limit set by the international coalition. This was reported by the Voice of America, according to UNN.

Ensuring compliance with the price limit on Russian oil is the highest priority of the United States and coalition partners. Actions against these companies and their ships serve the dual purpose of the price cap - to limit Russia's oil revenues while promoting stable global energy markets

- said Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemi.

Details

The price restriction does not allow Western insurance companies and carriers to provide services for the supply of Russian oil if its price exceeds the limit of $60 per barrel.

However, the ships NS Champion, Viktor Bakaev and HS Atlantica were transporting Russian oil contracted at $70 per barrel. Therefore, the U.S. Treasury Department added them to the list of blocked assets, and the owners of these vessels, companies from the UAE and Liberia, were sanctioned.

To recap

Recently, three of the largest Greek shipping companies stopped transporting Russian oil to avoid falling under US sanctions.
