The State Bureau of Investigation is actively counteracting drug mafia attempts to organize channels for the supply and sale of drugs in Ukraine, especially in the frontline regions. This is stated in the SBI report, UNN reports.

During the year, the SBI neutralized several powerful drug syndicates, shut down drug laboratories and blocked the channels of hard drugs entering Ukraine.
In particular, in 2023, SBI employees investigated 728 criminal proceedings on drug trafficking, and 187 indictments were sent to court.
Based on these investigations, the courts passed sentences against 77 people involved in drug trafficking. In addition, 53 people were detained during organized procedural actions, and 217 people were served with notices of suspicion.
This year, SBI officers seized over 179 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In particular, almost 2.5 kg of cocaine, 1.9 kg of methadone, 6 kg of PVP substances, almost 30 kg of amphetamine and over 126 kg of mephedrone. In addition, 30.4 kg of potent medicines, 33.5 kg and 9.3 liters of precursors were seized from the drug dealers
The agency emphasizes that these are hundreds of thousands of doses of ready-to-use drugs that will no longer be available on the black market.

The SBI noted that the analysis of the groups' activities indicates that they are often assisted by representatives of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
Such facts receive the most fundamental assessment by the leadership of these bodies, and the perpetrators are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law

In Cherkasy region, law enforcement officers exposed a criminal group of more than 40 peoplewho were engaged in the production of amphetamine and cannabis cultivation, earning up to 5 million hryvnias a month.
The members of the group were served suspicion notices and face up to 12 years in prison.
