The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation after two children and a dog were prevented from entering a school shelter during a rocket attack.

In Kyiv, during an air raid alert on December 14, a security guard did not allow two children to enter a school shelter because they were with a dog. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office launched a pre-trial investigation.  UNN reported this with reference to the press service of the Kyiv City  Prosecutor's Office. 

Details

On December 14, 2023, at approximately 16 hours. 20, during an air alert announced due to a Russian missile attack on the capital, an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy tried to get to a shelter in a school in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv.

According to the prosecutor's office, when the guard saw that the children were with a dog, he did not allow them to enter the shelter, despite the obvious threat to their lives due to the missile attack.

Under the procedural guidance of the juvenile prosecutors of the Sviatoshyno District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, a pre-trial investigation was launched into the deliberate abandonment of children who were in a life-threatening condition and were deprived of the opportunity to take measures to save themselves (part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)

In Kyiv, during one of the air raids on December 14, explosions were heard .  According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense forces shot down one X-47M Kinzhal air defense missile.
