No electricity shortage in Ukraine, mine de-energized due to shelling - Ministry of Energy

There is no shortage of electricity in Ukraine, and no blackout schedules are in place. A mine was de-energized due to shelling, and 52 settlements are without electricity due to bad weather. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy on Tuesday, UNN reports.

Generation and consumption

"There is no shortage of electricity and it is not expected for the current day. The generation produced in Ukraine is sufficient to cover the needs of consumers. Commercial electricity imports are also planned. If necessary, internal reserve capacities will be used," the Ministry of Energy said.

As noted, 1 unit and 1 building of the TPP were put under short-term emergency repairs.  

"The situation is under control. No outage schedules are applied," the Ministry of Energy said.

Consequences of shelling and power outages.

The mine and the town of Sputnik in Donetsk region came under new shelling. The mine is de-energized and people are being brought to the surface. Also, as a result of shelling in Chernihiv region, overhead lines of 10 kV power lines were damaged, 20 settlements were cut off from electricity, the ministry reported.

It also says that 52 settlements are without electricity, most of them in Donetsk, Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions.

"The water level in the cooling pond remains stable at 15.64 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant," the Ministry of Energy said.

Import/exportImport/export

Electricity imports amounted to 17,756 MWh. There were no exports.
