Electricity consumption has increased today due to the cold snap. From 11:00 to 19:00, emergency assistance from Slovakia, Romania, and Poland will be used to balance the power system. Ukrainians are asked to conserve electricity. UNN reports this with reference to the press service of Ukrenergo.
Details
As noted, the power system is in a difficult situation. Due to the cold snap, consumption exceeds the forecast by 2.7%. This is equivalent to the operation of 2 additional units of thermal power plants. However, according to Ukrenergo, there is currently no spare capacity at the power plants. Some units of thermal power plants are undergoing repairs, and solar power plants cannot operate at their maximum capacity due to dense cloud cover across the country.
Today's temperature is below the forecast. Ukrenergo's dispatch center has already seen in the morning that consumption has significantly exceeded the forecast level. To avoid a shortage and maintain a balance between production and consumption in the power system, it is now especially important to conserve electricity
It is noted that in order to avoid outages and maintain the balance in the power system, the Ukrenergo Dispatch Center is forced to attract emergency assistance from the transmission system operators of Slovakia, Romania and Poland from 11:00 to 19:00 with a capacity of 700 MW.
At the same time, no consumption limits were introduced, no outage schedules were introduced and no outages are forecasted
Exports and imports
No exports today.
Electricity is imported in the morning and evening hours from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova. The total volume is 1122 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 323 MW in some hours. Starting December 1, the technical possibility of importing electricity from Europe to Ukraine and Moldova is 1700 MW.
Blackouts
Due to the fighting and other reasons, 408 settlements remain without electricity. New damage to power grids in Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions has been caused by shelling. Consumers in Dnipropetrovs'k and Zaporizhzhia regions are without power due to technical violations.
