Training in Kyiv region schools to be completed by May 31: special program will help close gaps in reading, writing and arithmetic in summer

In the Kyiv region, schooling will end by May 31, and in the summer a special program will help to close the gaps in reading, writing and arithmetic for primary school students.

In June 2024, children's camps and hubs for catching up on educational losses, clubs and sections will be launched. In particular, the KECH program, implemented by Go Global with the support of UNICEF Ukraine, has been launched - the project  aims to conduct classes for primary school students.

This is reported by UNN, citing an order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which was announced by the deputy head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Zhanna Osypenko.  .

Details

By May 31, 2024, classes in schools in Kyiv region will end. Starting in June, temporary exam centers and school camps will open their doors. Special hubs for catching up on educational losses, clubs and sections have been announced.

The "KECH" program was launched in Kyiv region and is being implemented by Go Global with the support of UNICEF Ukraine. The program will provide classes for elementary school students, including those in the areas most affected by the war. The project is aimed at filling gaps in reading, writing and arithmetic skills.

 This program will be active in schools in the summer as well," promises the Kyiv OVA in its Telegram channel.

In Sumy, kindergartens, schools, and extracurricular activities have switched to distance learning until the end of the week due to the recent Russian missile attack that caused casualties and damage to buildings.

Ukraine hosted the All-Ukrainian Side by Side School Leagues, an initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The student teams competed in such sportsas futsal, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and orienteering. In Kyiv and the region, almost 12 thousand students took part in the second stage of the All-Ukrainian School Leagues side by side.
