A 52-year-old drunken man threatened to commit suicide and blow himself up with a grenade he found in the forest, and now faces up to 7 years in prison for illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.

A man who threatened to commit suicide  and blow himself up with a grenade while intoxicated will be tried in Kyiv. This is reported by the press service of the National Police of Kyiv, UNN writes.

The incident occurred on  last year in the Podil district of Kyiv. Police received information that a man was threatening to commit suicide on the street. 

Arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found  a 52-year-old man who was intoxicated and holding a grenade.

The police negotiated with the man, as a result of which the latter was detained and the ammunition was seized.

The seized grenade was an F1 combat grenade, according to the offender, he found it in the forest. Investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.

The pre-trial investigation has now been completed and the indictment has been sent to court for consideration on the merits. The offender faces up to seven years in prison
