The kuibyshev oil refinery in samara, russia, has shut down its primary oil processing unit, losing half of its capacity. As UNN reports, Reuters writes, citing sources.

Details

After a drone attack over the weekend, russia's kuibyshev oil refinery shut down the CDU-5 unit, one of its two primary oil processing units.

The CDU-5 has a production capacity of 9,500 metric tons per day (70,000 barrels per day), which is about half of the refinery's capacity. The other primary refining unit has a production capacity of 10,500 tons per day. So far, there is no evidence that it is operating normally.

As a result, the plant lost half of its production capacity.

Recall

The governor of the region, dmitry azarov, said that a fire broke out at the plant after it was attacked by a drone on Saturday morning. According to him, the flames engulfed the primary oil processing unit. The decline in production was also reported by russian public media.

The kuibyshev refinery is russia's 29th largest refinery by production, accounting for 1.34% of total oil refining last year. It processed 3.687 million tons of crude oil, producing 624,000 tons of gasoline (1.42% of total russian production), 1.187 million tons of diesel fuel (1.35%) and 1.040 million tons of fuel oil (2.56%).
