Traffic on the renovated Degtyarivskyi overpass in Kyiv has been opened, Mayor Vitali Klitschko has announced. The renovated structure has increased dimensions and capacity and will be fully completed next spring.
Today, traffic on the Degtyarivskyi overpass was opened in the capital for vehicles and trams to use the newly renovated tracks. This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in Telegram, UNN reports.
Details
The overpass was built in 1963. Since then, it hasn't been overhauled, and the facility has been in disrepair.
"Now it is actually a newly built facility," Klitschko said.
According to him, the specialists dismantled the overpass structures and foundations and replaced them with new ones with improved characteristics.
According to Klitschko, the new overpass is 1 meter higher than the previous one. The width of the structure has increased from 28 m to 40 m. The length of the overpass is 36 m instead of 33 m.
Improved parameters will increase throughput capacity to 45,000 vehicles per day
The tram line was also preserved on the new overpass, where the rails were completely renewed and the monolithic roadway slabs were reinforced.
Traffic is open on and off the new overpass.
Klitschko also said that the entire complex of works, namely the installation of the top layer of asphalt and landscaping near the exits and entrances, will be completed next spring. Bicycle paths and sidewalks will also be arranged.
Recall
In May 2023, the Kyiv City State Administration reported that the main works on the reconstruction of the Shuliavskyi overpass should be completed by the end of 2024.
